MICHAEL SCHERPEREL
Michael Scherperel studied conducting at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester and has a Masters of Music degree from the University of Miami; in between he also managed to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry from Harvard.

Although he is no longer employed full-time in the field of music, he has an extensive music background. He was for many years assistant conductor of the then-named Greater Miami Opera under the direction of Emerson Buckley, has been the director of the Florida Atlantic University orchestra and the Fort Lauderdale Symphony Chorus, and served as a music faculty member at Broward College and at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz (Austria).

A highly skilled pianist, he performed many years with the Miami Chamber Trio.
